Engraving by hand

Chris is rounding out the week by engraving a cup for the commission he's working on. We find that machine tools tend to be finicky and break down at the worst moments, so all our engravings are done with homemade chisels.

This gives a pleasingly "authentic" look as it's an historical technique, and isn't prey to supply chains or the electricity supply at the forge. Plus, it's much more fun and meditative, although mastering the technique takes a good few years!
