This robust left-handed broadsword trainer is based on historical examples of "horseman's swords", with a historically-sized asymmetrical basket that allows for a range of grip styles, including longer hand postures. The sword is light in the tip, moving willingly through guards, and giving a mobile, flowing fighting style.
It features a robust basket of three plates, with ribbon bars closing the spaces for comprehensive hand protection. A spherical pommel tops an oak grip, wrapped in brown resin-soaked cord.
Secondus is one of several Black Ribbon swords that will be made using this basket design, although each will have a different blade and a slightly different feel in the hand. The baskets will be sized to different hand sizes and handednesses.
This particular sword is ideal for left-handed users with larger hands, measuring around 10cm across the palm.
