This durable, willing broadsword trainer is based on historical examples of "horseman's swords", with a historically-sized asymmetrical basket that allows for a range of grip styles, including longer hand postures. The sword moves beautifully through guards, and is ideal for a mobile, flowing fighting style.
It features a robust basket of three plates, with ribbon bars closing the spaces for comprehensive hand protection. A spherical pommel tops an oak grip, wrapped in brown resin-soaked cord.
Primus is the first of several Black Ribbon swords that will be made using this basket design, although each will have a different blade, and therefore a different feel in the hand. The baskets will be sized to different hand sizes and handednesses.
This particular sword is ideal for right-handed users with larger hands, measuring around 10cm across the palm.
