This handsome Bolognese sidesword is light in the hand yet authoritative, with a weight optimised for cutting actions. Its simple hilt provides hand protection at the correct angles, while keeping the weight down.
The hardened steel hilt features a long, straight, flat-section crossguard with traditional faceted bars. There is hand-chiselled linework to the flaring quillon terminals. The large side-rings connect with a U-shaped loop, with carved terminals to the front of the sword.
The pommel is hand-carved with the likeness of an Anglo-Saxon inspired boar, giving the sword its name.
The oak grip is bound with linen thread and dark brown kidskin.
It is optimised for ambidextrous use with large-sized hands, i.e. a palm size of approximately 10cm across. With large finger rings (5cm x 3.5cm internal) it should also accommodate fencing gloves.
Please note: this sword is sold as seen. If you are inspired to create your own design, please contact us to discuss a custom commission.
