This 16th-century style rapier's hilt structure is loosely based on the battle sword of Jean de Valette, and adapted to work with a rapier blade. The blade itself is light and willing, both in holding the line and voiding the blade.
The guard is ideal for a practitioner who likes to work with one finger above the cross. Its short quillons give clearance for work with a buckler, but are still plenty wide enough to bind a blade as a solo weapon. The carving on the spherical pommel gives traction to the hand, allowing for extra control in transitions between moves.
The hilt is hand-forged a blackened in line with our "Black Ribbon" collection, featuring carved acanthus leaf detailing to the quillon terminals and segmented lines to the pommel. The oak grip is wrapped first in linen thread, and then in brown kidskin.
Please note: this sword is sold as seen. If you are inspired to create your own design, please contact us to discuss a custom commission.
