This classic Type XIV arming sword will make a perfect partner to a buckler, or as a single-handed weapon in its own right.
The blade is strongly-tapered and thin, with a 7-6.5cm wide base. The thin blade and semi-hollow pommel work together to make the sword feel less than its 1.1kg weight, moving effortlessly through guards. A bow-flex and thickened tip make the sword safe for careful sparring with a partner.
The pommel has a forged void to fine-tune balance, and is twisted with a slight cant to accommodate right-handed use, letting the ball of the thumb press comfortably against it in casting actions. However, this can be adjusted back to centrally-aligned using the threaded tang setup.
It features a heat-treated straight, square-section crossguard and a hollow wheel pommel, both of which are antiqued to a matte grey finish. The oak grip is wrapped first in linen thread, and then in dark green kidskin.
